The 360° Physio Story
My journey as a physiotherapist
2003
Clinical Foundations in the NHS
Beginning my career in the NHS provided a rigorous grounding in post-operative orthopaedics. This period was vital for developing the clinical diagnostic skills and “safety-first” approach that ensure my patients today receive the highest standard of medical care.
2007
Entry into Elite Sport (English Institute of Sport)
Landing a role with GB Waterpolo at the EIS was a pivotal shift into high-performance medicine. Working in this environment honed my ability to deliver rapid, effective results under pressure—skills I now use to help local athletes return to their sports faster.
2009
Lead Physiotherapist for England Squash
Taking the lead for a national team on the World Tour meant managing complex injuries across the globe. Collaborating with world-leading surgeons and clinicians during this time elevated my specialist knowledge, particularly in lower limb mechanics and high-level rehabilitation.
2014
Masters in Sports Injury Rehabilitation
Completing my MSc at the University of Salford allowed me to bridge the gap between elite “on-field” experience and advanced clinical research. This academic milestone ensures that every rehab plan I create for my clients in Saffron Walden is backed by the latest evidence-based science.
2016
Specialist Private Practice in Saffron Walden
Since moving to Essex, I have successfully translated two decades of elite experience into community-focused care. Whether it is helping a runner hit a PB or supporting a CrossFit athlete at Bear Walden, my focus remains on goal-oriented recovery and long-term injury prevention.

The 360° Guide to Active Recovery: Why Doing Nothing Isn’t Always the Answer
When you sustain an injury or feel the onset of persistent muscle soreness, the traditional advice is often to rest. However, 23 years of experience across the NHS and elite sport has taught me that total inactivity is rarely the most effective path to healing. At...

Physio Questions
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Are you looking for a thorough assessment? Your initial 45-60 minute consultation at Shire Hill involves a “360-degree” look at your history, lifestyle, and goals. Drawing on my NHS clinical foundations, I perform a physical movement screen to identify the root cause of your pain, followed by a clear explanation and your first hands-on treatment or rehab plan.
Do I need a GP referral to book with you?
Are you looking for immediate access to care? No, you do not need a GP referral to see a private Chartered Physiotherapist. As an HCPC-registered clinician with over 20 years of experience, I am qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat your injury directly. If I feel your condition requires further medical investigation or imaging, I will provide a professional letter for your doctor.
Can you help me return to CrossFit or high-level sport?
Are you looking for specialist sports injury rehabilitation? Absolutely. My background as Lead Physio for England Squash and work with GB Waterpolo means I specialise in high-performance recovery. Whether you are training at Bear Walden or prepping for a marathon, I create evidence-based plans designed to bridge the gap between “pain-free” and “peak performance.”
How many sessions will I typically need?
Are you looking for a realistic timeline? Every body is unique, but my goal is to get you back to your best as efficiently as possible. Following your assessment, I provide a transparent recovery roadmap. Some acute ‘niggles’ resolve in 2–3 sessions, while complex post-operative or chronic issues may require a longer-term, structured approach.
What should I wear to my physiotherapy session?
Are you looking to stay comfortable during your assessment? To allow for an accurate movement screen and hands-on treatment, please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, gym wear is also suitable.
If we are assessing a lower limb or running injury, shorts and your typical training shoes are ideal so I can clearly observe your joint mechanics and gait.
Is there parking available at the Shire Hill clinic?
Yes, there is ample free on-site parking directly outside the clinic located within the Bear Walden CrossFit gym at Shire Hill. The clinic is easily accessible for residents of Saffron Walden and the surrounding Essex villages, providing a professional and convenient environment for your rehabilitation sessions.
Can I use my private health insurance for treatment?
Yes, 360° Physio is registered with most major health insurance providers, including Bupa, AXA, and Vitality. I recommend contacting your insurer before your first appointment to confirm your level of coverage and obtain a pre-authorisation code. As a Chartered and HCPC-registered physiotherapist, my services meet the high clinical standards required by all major UK medical insurers.
Should I book a sports massage or a physiotherapy assessment?
If you are dealing with a specific injury, persistent pain, or a “niggle” that limits your movement, a physiotherapy assessment is the best starting point to get a clinical diagnosis. If you are simply feeling tight from training at Bear Walden or want to speed up recovery between workouts, a sports massage is the perfect choice. During a physio session, we focus on the root cause, whereas a sports massage focuses on soft tissue maintenance and muscle tension.
Do you offer rehabilitation for post-operative recovery?
Yes, I specialise in post-operative rehabilitation, drawing on my early career foundations in NHS orthopaedics. Whether you are recovering from an ACL reconstruction, a joint replacement, or spinal surgery, I provide a structured, evidence-based recovery plan. We work closely with your surgeon’s protocols to ensure you regain strength and mobility safely and effectively.
Can you help with running injuries and gait analysis?
Absolutely, running injuries are a core part of my clinical practice. By combining my Masters-level knowledge in sports injury rehab with a “360-degree” movement screen, I can identify biomechanical issues in your gait that may be leading to shin splints, runner’s knee, or Achilles tendonitis. We don’t just treat the pain, we adjust your mechanics to make you a more resilient runner on the Saffron Walden trails.
